Microbial Degradation of Lignocellulose in Empty Fruit Bunch at Various Incubation Time
نویسندگان
چکیده
Isolation of cellulose in empty fruit bunch (EFB) is hindered by lignin content. EFB was pretreated with Pleurotus ostreatus which has the ability to degrade lignin, various incubation times (0th, 15th,30th, 45th, and 60th). The result showed decreased from 29.3% 20.3% 40.2% 26.2%, respectively. optimum degradation time on 30th day contents 41% 39.7% (C/L) ratio increased 1.40 1.99. These data revealed that P. have a high potential for delignification.

BACKGROUND Empty fruit bunch (EFB) has many advantages, including its abundance, the fact that it does not require collection, and its year-round availability as a feedstock for bioethanol production. But before the significant costs incurred in ethanol production from lignocellulosic biomass can be reduced, an efficient sugar fractionation technology has to be developed. To that end, in the pr...
متن کاملMicrobial degradation of lignocellulose: the lignin component.
A new procedure was developed for the study of lignin biodegradation by pure or mixed cultures of microorganisms. Natural lignocelluloses were prepared containing C in primarily their lignin components by feeding plants l-[U-C]phenylalanine through their cut stems. Lignin degradation was observed in numerous soils by monitoring evolution of CO(2) from [C]lignin-labeled oak (Quercus albus), mapl...
متن کاملConversion of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch to Biofuels
Crude palm oil production is reaching 48.99 million metric tonnes per year globally in 2011 and Southeast Asia is the main contributor, with Indonesia accounting for 48.79%, Malaysia 36.75%, and Thailand 2.96% (Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia, 2011). Oil palm is a multi-purpose plantation and it is also an intensive producer of biomass. Accompanying the production of one kg of palm oi...
متن کاملMetabolic control of lignocellulose degradation by lignocellulose-degradation microbial community MC1
This study was to reveal the limiting factors of lignocellulose degradation and further improve the potential degradation of microbial community MC1, by pH manual adjustment (pHMA) and culture medium partial replacement (CMPR) during the process of rice straw degradation. The results indicated degradation rate in control (5% rice straw) increased, ranging from 33.3 to 67.5% via pHMA method, and...
